It makes me extremely happy to share this wedding with you today. We met Steven many years ago at a photography convention in Orlando, Florida. At the time he was the amazing album designer at Renaissance, our favourite and exceptional album company. I’ll always remember him as this incredibly friendly, warm, soft-spoken and fashionable guy whose always got a grin on his face and a laugh to share. Even though we haven’t spent much time together since our first meeting, when Steven approached us to photograph his wedding it felt like we’d been old friends for years. We knew we wouldn’t have the chance to meet Julia until the wedding day, but we had this confidence that she would be pretty awesome. She stepped out of the limo with a radiant smile and giant hugs for us, and that was it. We were totally taken with her.
Julia & Steven chose to have their wedding photos taken at Old Westbury Gardens before their Catholic ceremony at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by a traditional Korean tea ceremony and epic dinner party at Jericho Terrace. The day was overcast and drizzling, but no amount of wet grass and rain could diminish Julia & Steven’s smiles. We are thankful for their unabashed excitement that allowed us to capture whimsical moments of tumbling autumn leaves, and crazy flare from fallen raindrops on our lenses. We also can’t help but smile to remember how they loved on their dear families, and danced the night away like nobody’s business.
Julia & Steven, thank you not only for sharing your day with us, but loving us and taking care of us like family. You reminded us again why we love to take photographs and it’s couples like you who make us know we have the best jobs in the world. We hope to spend time with you again soon, hopefully one day here in Calgary!
